Maybe their God is the Earth.
Maybe their version of the Apocalypse is "Global Warming".
Maybe their Communion is bean sprouts and hummus.
Maybe their Penance is bathing sporadically.
Maybe their Lord's Prayer is "Imagine" by John Lennon (who by the way probably doubles as their Messiah and Son of God).
Maybe the Seven Deadly Sins are:
1. Driving an SUV.
2. Not recycling.
3. Using regular lightbulbs.
4. Buying non-organic foods.
5. Owning anything made out of real wood.
6. Diapering your baby with disposable diapers.
7. Having more than 1.2 children.

What do you think?

I just find it interesting that most people who label themselves Environmentalists are typically liberals, whose other mantra is basically "you shouldn't press your beliefs on other people" when that's exactly what THEY do.

Many people believe that God is a mythical character
Many people also believe that man-made Global Warming is a myth.

Both things are basically accepted by their followers on Faith, since neither have been empirically proven to be true.

Hhhmmmm...interesting.

(BTW, I don't doubt that the earth is probably in a warming phase, I just don't believe that it's all or even a majority of man's fault...the earth is a dynamic thing and has gone through Ice Ages and warm periods for millions of years before we industrialized and began using fossil fuels)

Of course, there is evidence in both the existence of God and whether man is the cause or a major cause of global warming, but how that evidence is interpreted is still up to each individual. The evidence that we've been privy to has still not PROVEN the existence of either. It is still a matter of the faith or willingness to believe of the individual that determines the existence of these things. Just like you may think it's futile for me to try to convince you of the existence of God, I think it's futile of Environmentalists to try and ram man-made global warming down my throat and get me to accept it as an irrefutable fact.

Hypocrisy is an ugly thing and does nothing positive for any cause.

Oh, you're right. Al Gore could either be their Savior or their Lead Evangelist, like Jimmy Swaggart.

Maybe their church is the street in front of the White House where they go to worship/protest and their hymn books are picket signs with slogans like "I love my Prius" and "I talk to trees...they're more interesting than people"

It is some people's religion. As the Bible says "they worship the creation more than the Creator".

I think that the multi-religious nature of present-day environmentalism exposes your "ideas" as pure silliness:

See the following:

Fundamentalist Christian environmentalists:

Jewish environmentalists:

And, (*gasp*) there are Pagan anti-environmentalists!:

How is it possible to have "1.2" children?

So is that like, one child and 1/5 of a child?
