I would like a medical answer. Not just the part you see...the whole tongue. Lets say a border collie size dog.

Longer than ours. They usually hang about 2-4 inches out of their mouth

I would say it depends on the size of the dog and how you measure it. But you really should have had a guy ask this question for you. Sorry, I just had to say that.

i am presuming you are asking this because you've noticed your dogs tongue seems long... they appear longer after heavy exercise and thirst :)))) and yes,, some are longer than normal,, it should always fit comfortable inside the dogs mouth - if it doesn't could be a genentic defect

What is an average dog? A poodle or a great dane? cause I am sure there is a big difference...depends on the breed.....
