Andy Warhol (August 6, 1928 — February 22, 1987) was an American artist associated with the definition of Pop Art. He was a painter, an avant-garde filmmaker, a commercial illustrator, writer and celebrity. He founded the magazine Interview.

Warhol was actually pretty cool - or his art was anyway. He was a major innovator in modern art, as a pioneer in Pop Art. And rather a character. He was responsible for elevating the status of artists among the general public. He was controversial, but deceptively simple at the same time. Aside from his sexual orientation(s) (Gay, Bi, Voyeur), and his public flamboyance, he actually had a very conventional ethos.
