I have a buddy who is in Iraq just north of Bagdad on the air force base there. What are good items to send to him? He says he doesn't care what I send. What are good things to send to him?
Thanks

Magazines of topics he enjoys, newspapers from home, beef jerkey, music, games (try chess, cribbage, checkers, trivia games). Gum, snacks, candy.

They work hard over there - doesn't matter which branch is there, they're all working together.

that depends on your resources.

when the company i own did a gift to the troops we got this thing from the military for suggested gifts and just about everything under the sun was on that list.

we make apparel, so we made up some shirts special for the troops - they wanted specific colors, so that's what we gave them.

if you have the money, i would think an ipod would be one of the best things you could send - and if you really cared you could load it up with songs ahead of time, so your buddy wouldn't have to.

Deck of cards, some toothpaste (and other materials), pitctures, paper and envelopes (self addresses and stamped), a newspaper (such as the Wall Street Journal, or the Washington Post), maybe a magazine (pro-American, like US News and World Report, not Time or al-Newsweek).

The above was about right....air force has it pretty good. However, they are far from home, so something from home would be nice. I like to mix my care packages with some of the needed (hygiene products, underwear, etc), mission munchies (snacks that are easily transported and dont require cooking), and some fun (CDs, books, toys, movies, etc).

Hope that helps.

I know that when friends and family members in my area are overseas, we like to send them items that are particular to where we are from. For example, in Kentucky we have a soft drink called "Ale-8" and potato chips called "Grippo's" that you really can't get anywhere else.
