Why don't people teach their children how to look at things from a logical standpoint, and not a hateful one? Should parents who teach their children to hate others based only on religion or ethnicity have their children taken from them? I've reported one such case because the mother was so insane that I feared for their lives. Look at the case of the one mentally ill mother who drowned her 5 children in the family tub, or at the mother who literally strapped her two boys into their car seats and sent the car into the river. Should people with mental illnesses such as some displayed on this very board have their children taken from them for the fear that they may harm them? If they can be this way with strangers and show so much hatred, aren't you afraid for the children?

In their own twisted minds, they think they're doing good. But hey, Hitler thought he was right and look what he did. So did the founder of the KKK, who taught his children to hate people based solely on race and ignored what his own people were doing. Gee, why does that sound so familiar?

Right, ignorance causes us to fear everything, hate everything, act against everything as a measure of self protection. Only knowledge can change this condition. And we have to seek for the One True God, Who is the Source of all knowledge.

I understand your fear. However, we do live in a free country and until a crime is actually committed their is no real reason to take a child away from the parent/parents. I know this does't make sense to some people, but if we took legal action against anyone that has a wrong thought everyone would be either locked up or have their children taken away from them.

Surely. like the children who have bombs strapped to them and are sent into crowded places. Or the children who are taught that people of any other religion than their own should be killed and they will be rewarded for it. Anytime a religion promotes violence against others as a prerequisite for serving its god, that religion is wrong. Chrisitanity teaches that all vengence is God's and no person should take that vengance into their own hands. Jesus taught that we should love our neighbors as ourselves, although we may not like what they do or how they believe. We should never hate the individual, only their actions, as Jesus hated the actions of the moneylenders in the temple and overthrew their tables.

As someone with mental health problems and family members who also suffer form mental health problems I think you need to reevaluate what you just said. There is a big difference between being ill and being a religious extremist. those women who killed their children should have had them taken out of their custody until they were treated and made well again.

I don't think you can diagnose ill heath of any kind from a board posting even with a medical degree. Please think before you post in future and use some other method of comparison.

I don't really get your connection with racism and religious fear of the unknown to mentally ill people who kill their own children. Neither of the cases you quoted had anything to do with being afraid of other people based on ethnicity or religion.

But to answer your question, why are people so afraid of what they don't understand is that they are afraid because they don't understand it lol. Same thing as a child afraid of an upcoming hospital visit because they don't know what is going to happen to them.

The overall answer? Education.

No, really i think a lot of people on here are not serious and they are hiding behind a computer shooting their mouths off and laughing. They probably do not act like this in real life.

I think they're scared that it may alter their beliefs! But I think it's wise to teach your kids to think for themselves and learn about other things...rather than confining them to believe what you believe...you know what I mean!? =)
