people are telling you to wear costumes, formal wear and casual wear. All of that is extreamly horrible information. It doesnot matter what time of the day you go or what opera you are attending. You need to wear clothing that is comfortable but upscale and attractive. Semi formal clothing is optimal. whether you wear a pair of dress pants and a button up shirt or blouse, a nice non flower pattern skirt (something more modern or even a silkier shinier fabric would be good), or a some what casual dress; no neon or bright colored fabrics, and no jeans, and no floral prints or pastel colors. The Opera or Ballet much like a concert is a serious artistic function and need to be respected so plan ahead incase there are any problems or diffiulties.

good luck and enjoy the show

Anything you like. Some people, but very few, do dress in formal wear for the occasion. If you want to do this, go ahead. But these days most opera houses - I don't know about the ballet - are more interested in broadening their appeal to larger audiences, so they're not fussy about what you wear. By way of an example, at an English National Opera performance a couple of years ago, a fellow member of the audience was wearing paint-spattered shorts and hiking boots!

Very few people attend the ballet or the opera in formal attire these days. If the performance is during the day, smart-casual wear is appropriate. If it is an evening performance, particularly an opening night, I would wear something appropriate for an evening party. Dress, skirt or trousers, anything goes as long as it is not too casual or too wild. Perhaps some tailored black trousers with a silk top and a wrap? Don't be afraid of a little colour or sparkle but keep it elegant - think classy not trashy! Monsoon normally has a lovely selection of rich fabrics and colours that can be worn with something well-cut but simple.

Depends upon your age. These days some people turn up very in very casual outfits but I wouldn't recommend that!

Go with something simple and classic. Sweater and plain slacks or skirt. If you're going during the day (as opposed to an evening performance) you can get a bit more casual. For example, a very nice denim skirt (not too faded, no fraying), boots, and a sweater or blouse. Also, a classic blazer could dress up any of these options. Hope this helps.

The most beautiful clothes you can find in your closet! Improvise if you must! And stay warm ... and get something at the intermission.... if they have champagne, be sure you can be seen without your coat ... you can wear your scarf, but do not let them see you in your coat!

If you only have a beautiful skirt and an angora sweater and one pretty pin, that will do as long as your perfume smells beautiful, your hair is nice and you have a pretty pair of earrings...

OK?

Depends on the opera -- maybe one of those metal helmets with horns and blonde braids??

If its opening night you must dress very formal. After that you must look 'dressed up" However if you are in a major city they might dress very formal every night. me, I'd dress very, very nice.
