She told us if they did start licking alot that we would have to put those funny collars on them. So, why is it so bad for them to lick thier wound??

It's a surgical site and while it heals, they're at risk of infection. Licking the site would increase that risk.

1) bacteria from the mouth will get into the wound and cause an infection and 2) if they lick too much, they can pull the stitches out (the female one, boys the incisions are very small and don't need stitches). If they really really lick at it, she can actually open the abdomen and her intestines will fall out. Normal cat grooming is OK but don't let them obsess about it.

It truly only relies upon on the cat. clone of human beings. there are some human beings we do only not get alongside with. if you're male cat would not attack the female and only hisses, i'm particular he received't attack the kitten. i have under no circumstances extremely had too a lot problems with my cats. My male cat has continually gotten alongside with each and every cat he has come throughout and he's neutered and eight years previous. I delivered a male kitten about 7weeks previous and they grew to develop into the finest of acquaintances and the kitten is now 2 years previous and they nevertheless love one yet another. i lately rescued a week and a 1/2 previous male kitten and my 7 month previous lady cat hisses at him and runs away and that i go away the kitten to stroll round on the floor and he or she would not attack him. she'll only watch from a distance. i'd watch the hot kitten once you get him and only see how your cat reacts round him. i does no longer be too fearful. in case you note your cat has tried to slap the kitten some cases, do not enable them be on my own. yet after a pair weeks i'd enable them be, the kitten will detect the thanks to stay out of your male cats area and they'll be superb. some cats are only autonomous and do not pick to be round different cats.

The area can become infected, or she can open her stitches. She's probably licking it because the scab hurts. If she continues licking, get her the collar.

Cats have rough tongues. They can tear the stitches out and pull all the hair off in that area. This leaves the wound raw and infections can set in.

You don't want them to lick the area because it could irritate it and cause it not to heal or open up the incision.

They don't want the area to get infected and they don't want the cat pulling out its stitches.
