Hi Miss D!!
Pain, swelling, redness, and irritation can occur at the injection site. These effects generally occur within 30 minutes to 1 week of the vaccination. If the signs persist, or are severe, contact your veterinarian.
Occasionally, abscesses can form at the injection site. These abscesses are generally not caused by infection, but by the body's over-reaction to the vaccine.
Mild fever, decreased appetite, and depression may be observed for 1-2 days following vaccination, most commonly when modified live vaccines are used. Generally, no treatment is warranted. Hi,
The way immunization works is that your dog is given a very small amount of the disease it is immunised against. This introduces it to the body so they can build a resistance to it without getting sick, although there can be side effects. Humans often get sick for a few days, to the occasional child or infant it can be fatal, though it is a very small amount.
Animals are generally moer sensitive for humans and they often don't feel well. He should be okay in a day or so, if she doesn't get better call your vet.
Good luck
Bria

she should feel good so you should call the vet and ask why she is not. I used to work in a vet office and the shots we gave most of the time should have never made them feel lethargic or act any different.

Don't worry. It's like when you get the flu shot, your supposed to get somewhat sick. It's the same thing with your dog. Just make sure She stays hydrated and eats. If she doesn't for more than two days, let your vet know. It could be an underline problem.

Keep an eye on the swelling. If it get's worse by tomorrow, take your dog back to the vet. Otherwise, after 2 perhaps 3 days your dog will be perky again.

Is this an annual shot? You need to read this article from the University of Wisconsin
http://svmweb.vetmed.wisc.edu/articles/68/5/39
And yes, vaccinations can make a dog feel really bad for up to a week or so.

that is common especially in small dogs. thats a lot of med for them. some shots actually make the dog sick to build up its immune system. usually they will give some childrens tylenol with puppy shots. just keep an eye on her and make sure she drinks plenty of water.

Many dogs dont want to do anything after getting their shots. Its normal and can last a couple day at worst. just let it rest and give it love.....

I think you should put a pillow under your dogs body. and keep her comfortable. give her something she likes. and instead of walks to day, spend time with your dog. The more you keep your dog comfortable, the more she'll get better knowing your helping her. So just keep doing what i told u and in now time she'll get better.
