Make sure to arrive twice as early as you think you should when you go to the airport to catch your flight. Security measures have stepped up recently and really bog you down. Depending on the size of the airport, it can take a considerable amount of time to get from the check-in to the boarding gate (and don't forget to allow time for duty-free shopping once through the boarding gates).
The check in desks and departure gates are usually very well advertised, and there are usually plenty of screens around with information regarding all the flights - whether there are delays etc.
At the check-in desk, you're assigned your seat, your paperwork is checked, and you hand over your main luggage to be transported to the plane (you may have to pay a small fortune here, depending on the weight of your luggage). Then you get your boarding pass and you dawdle around until it's time to head for the gate. Your gate number is on your ticket and on the screens, but don't forget to allow time for more stupid security checks. Then eventually after still more hanging around, you board the aircraft, put your hand luggage in the overhead compartment or under your seat, do up your belt, and, if you're anything like me, sweat profusely until you arrive at your destination! Oh, you get some lovely food to eat too, and may have to pay another fortune for the privelege, depending on the airline you're with. Once you arrive, you enter the luggage hall, hang around for hours again vainly waiting for your bags to appear on the carousel, then do a Vicar of Dibley chasing Alice's wedding bouquet through the crowd as soon as you spot it, then walk about a half mile through customs, passport control, then finally the arrivals hall.
You've just reminded me - I HATE flying!

well before you get into the airplane, first you have to check in your luggage and take your boarding pass.you have to look for your gate number(where you check in your luggage),boarding time and boarding gate at the electric board showing departure time.then you have to find your gate to the airplane.you might have to pass the customs first.they will normally check you hand luggage bag(if you bring one) and your passport and they will check you too.
then you go to your gate and when the time is right you will be called in to enter the airplane.
in the airplane you will have to find your seat and put your hand luggage in the upper compartment.then you sit and fasten your seat belt.a few minutes later the plane will take off and when that is over the stewardess and steward will explain the safety rules(like how to wear oxygen mask incase of emergency and the exit door..etc..).then they will serve drinks.from there you can watch tv(if the plane has one)and they might start to give out breakfast,or lunch,or dinner.then you are free to do anything.you can sleep or read but no smoking!
when you arrive at your destination the captain will inform the time and weather.when you have landed you have to find you luggage at the luggage claim place then go through some customs, they check your passport and once all that is finish you can leave the airport and proceed to your destination.

get to the airport and u find the counter that you have to check in, corresponding to the flight you are taking.
You then will have to go through immigration to get urself checked out of ur home country, which means u're basically in no man's land while waiting for ur flight.
You then have to go through security checks to make sure you don't have bombs in your luggage u're bringing on board, and at the same time (or just after) you check in to the boarding lounge where u wait to get onto ur flight.
You will then be called according to priority and seating arrangement to board the flight, where you will have to walk through the aerobridge and be greeted at the plane's entrance by your friendly cabin crew. They will then guide you to your seat by just showing them ur boarding pass.
Once you get to ur seat, you have to keep your luggage in a safe place (either under the seat infront of you or in the overhead compartments) and then get comfy in your seat. The airline will then advise you to fasten your seatbelt and keep it on as long as you're seated.
You then get to watch them demonstrate the emergency procedures, be told to keep ur seat upright, keep ur trays and cup holders, life up window blinds, and lift the footrest before take off.
So then the plane takes off and you get plastered to your seat for a bit unless u have good stomach muscles to pull u off and peep out the window. After which you enjoy inflight entertainment, you meal (if there's any) and just wait before they tell you to do all the stuff b4 take off in preparation for the landing.
Then basically you get off the plane, pass immigration and enjoy the other country.

When you get to the airport you check in with your airline, they take you luggage (except carry on) and tag it to go on your plane (hopefully!!!) you then will proceed through security screening, from there you go to your gate and wait for your flight and row to be called. You board your plane, find your seat, put your carry-on in the overhead near your seat (if there is room) or under your seat. Get yourself situated (if you on the aisle you may have to get back up for people in the other rows to get in), get your seat buckle on and adjusted and wait. The flight attendant will walk up and down the aisle to make sure everyone is al set prior to take off and they will go over safety instructions.....plane then heads to the runway, gets its speed up and takes off. The seat belt sign will go off and you can take it off to go use the rest room if necessary. While in flight flight attendant will usually come with beverages and snacks, (some airlines charge and some are free), then they will come through to pick up trash.......when you are almost at you destination there will usually be an announcement that includes the weather, ect. When it is almost time to land you have to put your seat belt back on (sign will come on) and sit upright. Then you land, grab your carry-on get off the plane go through a tunnel to the inside of the airport and head to baggage claim for the bags you checked.

when you get to airport, look for electronic board (departure information) to have most upto date info about your flight (eg. departure time, boarding gate, where to check in), then go to check-in area show your ticket, passport or ID card (if you flight to a dosmetic location), check-in your luggage. After that you could do some shopping (duty free) if you have time before go to boarding room.

There happens exactly the same when you go by bus. Don't expect anything special! Airliners are the buses of the 21th century.
