POTATOES contain some starch, but your body can convert this into food energy. As for the peas and corn, these are vegetables that contain fibre, and water. You shouldn't avoid fibre and/or water, even if you are on a diet.

Potatoes - very high in carbs, so eat them as you would any other carb - in controlled amounts.
Corn - Supposedly high on the glycemic index, but unless you eat huge amounts or always slather it with butter, I wouldn't worry; the nutrients you get in it are reason enough to eat corn.
Peas - Definitely don't avoid! High in fiber, protein and other good stuff.
Check the nutritional contents of everything you eat, avoid transsaturated fats (always, even when not on a diet) and sugars, eat in controlled portions, exercise, and you will have a smart, healthy diet :)
