Group God with souls? Just because I believe in a soul does not mean I believe in God, almost everytime I talk to an Atheist or Christian and say something about a soul, the Atheists start debating the existence of God and the Christians congratulate me on my strong faith! Think about it, why do those two need to be grouped? You can have one without the other. I don't want any debates, I just want to know why and I know other people have seen this too.

I've never noticed this before. But why ask the question if you're not ready for a debate. That's what people do on R&S.

God and an immortal human soul are both based on a concepts of metaphysic concious beings, the same is the case for angels, ghosts etc. The reason why I don't believe in God and don't believe in an immortal soul is the same: I think that all what we feel and think is based on our brain, and I don't believe a concious being can exist independently from a brain. I'm just speaking for myself now but I suppose others might think in a similar way.

Because soul is considered/see/categorised as the spirit of a body. If you believe in a soul, then you would be categorised as someone who believes in spirtuality.

For atheists, spirit or spirituality is a belief in something that is non-existent. Whether it's God, spirits or ghosts, they are all the same to atheists - they are all non-existent in their logic.

For Christians, they would perceive your spirituality as being in touch with a "god". For them, that is better than nothing. Furthermore, your soul can be 'saved'.

Spirituality is a concept that a lot of people are allergic to, especially Atheists.

If your belief and senses are pointing to a truth that you feel for yourself, then that's all that matters, even if that 'matter' cannot be seen.

Yes you are absolutely right. I am an Atheists which means I don't believe in a supreme being. However I do believe in Ghost what you may call Souls. When I was five years old I begin talking with my recently departed Grandaddy and I have been talking with him ever since and also with other ghost I have met along the way. When I was sixteen I was involved in an accident in a car my uncle was driving. He was killed instantly. I only received bruises from the safety belt and a busted lip. the day of his funeral after I went to sleep he joined me in my dream and begin playing with me and talking to me. Later on he begin talking to me when I was awake also. I have continued to communicate with him for two years.

If you walked up to me and started explaining the reasons you prefer the 4-3 defense vs. the 3-4 defense, I would naturally have to assume that you wanted to discuss football. And I would engage the conversation that way. I would probably start talking about offensive strategies as well. To me, it just seems natural.

I agree that you can have free will to believe whatever you want to believe. I also know that just because you say you believe or do not believe in something does not make it truth. If that were the case, everyone who did not believe in gravity would suddenly begin to float off into space.

So you have a soul...so what does that mean to you?

The concept of a soul usually points to a belief in an after-life or at least to a belief in something more than this life. An after-life or a "higher life" usually points to Someone or Something beyond our senses, doesn't it?

god bless

If I need an answer this is where I turn to. The answer is in the WORD!
2Cr 6:17 Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean [thing]; and I will receive you,
2Cr 6:18 And will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.
You are in my prayers!

If you believe in a soul, you probably believe in the spirits of the death representing the great ancestors. Therefore you probably believe in chamanism.
