Have had long hair for about 13 years. It's naturally curly, quite high maintenance. Have been thinking of a kylie type "do". What do you think?

I also have long curly hair but got the low maintenance after trying to cut it and hated what I've done so now some bits of my hair tips are longer than others, I'd say go for a monthly trim to keep it healthy aswell as using hair treatment creams if your hair starts to get those split ends,Also try looking in the mirror holding your hair up to your shoulders or how ever length you prefer and see if it fits your face shape, then if you're happy with it, go to a hair stylist and don't cut it yourself, you'll feel sorry. good luck!
Hope this helps.

I think you'll regret it.

I've almost always had long hair. The high maintenence aspect of it isn't great, but I've never felt quite 'me' after having it cut short (only two times - couldn't wait for it to go long again).

Once you get into your mid forties and fifties (if you're not already there), it might be a different matter. Long hair can look a little straggly when you're older. I still think I'd favour a nice chic bob over a crop though. Crops are just too androgenous. I think they only suit a few women.

I dont think you should, i have long curly hair and its very high maintenance but i think you will regret it if you do, maybe you should go to a good hairdresser and get some advice on how to manage you hair differently. Maybe a style change would be better than it all cut off. Long hair is more sexy ;) Dee.x Bobs g/f

It would be wrong to judge without a photo of you. You need to have a hairstyle to suit not only your lifestyle but your looks as well. Consult you hair dresser for options that might suit you.

ETA The first answer given here is an excellent alternative - but it is still good to get a professional opinion.

i think it'd be pretty cool although if you decide to grow it longer again, it is a bit of a pain when you get to the in-between stage (which i have just got past!)
if you have a good stylist, they will cut it in a style that will suit your hair type and texture and give you advice on styling it. i would recommend having it cut by someone who is used to your hair though or it could go quite wrong!

Yea change is always good..
Don't cut too short though because it is curly, it will take you a while to get used to it..you might not really like it at first but short hair is fun..

Get a wig first, of the hair style you want and see if it suits you, the last thing you want to do is cut off your hair that has taken years to grow and not like the style, better to be safe than sorry :)

I'm same but I don't think it is high maintenance, probably more if short.

I just leave loads of conditioner in it.

Think hard if it's like mine it'll take ages to grow back.

I guess if your asking you must have some desire to do it. So why not ? Hardest part is probably getting the words out of you mouth and giving your stylist the go. Yeah , have it cut short, you'll like it.
