you're still wet behind the ears.
We're getting nowhere.
It's the thought that counts.

The first one means that you are inexperienced or young.
The second one means that you are not making any progress.
The third one means that it is important that someone thought of you or made an effort to do something, regardless of the outcome or material benefit to you.

You are still wet behind the ears ....means you are naive another idiom for that is "green" i.e "you are so green" ... or you are too young or innocent to understand something

We're getting nowhere .... means they are not moving or advancing forward ... they are in a state of flux or rut or stationary because they cant understand it or haven't figured out the problem or they are incapable of resolving whatever the issue or problem is ....

Its the thought that counts .... is a response from a person when. someone tries to do something for someones birthday, valentines day or any occasion that might require a present or gift of some sort ... but that person doesn't have the resources to do very much so they attempt to do something small .... the person's response to the givers actions or words of congratulations or sympathy or whatever .... may be ... thank you, its the thought that counts ... the fact that the giver thought about the persons needs or special occasion was worth as much as a large present ..

Wet behind the ears means too young....has to do with puppies being born...freakishly enough...when mammals are born they are covered in placenta or whatever that goo is...and it dries and stuff...it means the puppy is just born...young...still wet behind the ears. The other 2 are pretty self explanitory
