Young brother,
Whatever seems to burden you, it is a serious matter when you reach such a point in the peak of your youth. Doing drugs will not solve the problem but only prolong it, and it will mutate them into something more powerful unless you divert from this course that you are traveling. As they say " dont drink when you depressed" it is true, because doing so only intensifies the depths of your anguish, making it possible to move further into depression, and even suicide. This is not a joking matter.
Prayer-I am religious, but that doesnt mean you have to be at this point. It means if you have faith, then it is advised to use it. Go the the school chaplain or the local church, speak to someone who can help you with your prayer life TRUST THESE WORDS. It will be beneficial to you, and have patience, for anything good thing to work, it take time to make it happen. If you cannot cope, then there are medical alternatives you can choose, but im believing that you are not as weak as you think, and you can and will walk thru this knowing there is always a rainbow after the storm.
This is but a stage of life; it will pass by. Hang in there and get into some physical activities, and dont be discouraged because you dont see the benefits immediately, everything that is worth it, takes time. Be well young man, and may the hand of God be upon you.

Best advise to you is "Put on your big boy panties and deal with it"

If you are feeling fat and ugly it is probably because you are eating like crap and getting no exercise. I've been there. I was SO far down that I packed on 40 pounds in the last year and a half.

Solution, I started eating better by watching portion sizes and I started exercising. You are a college student, you have two advantages that I don't have, time and access. If you are going to a school of any size; there is a gym. You also had to pay activity fees which means you have access to this gym at NO CHARGE. Use it. You are not working 8am-6 pm and have 2 kids to raise by yourself so you have plenty of time on your hands use that too. If you are eating at the school cafeteria there is a salad bar and soup station; most likely; use that as well.

Stop moping and pull your head out of your *** and do something about your problems. They will not fix themselves.

The symptoms you are describing could be related to depression or another mood disorder. You're in luck though, because you are a college student you can most likely access free counselling services on campus. Contact your health center or counselling services for more information. You may need a referral to a physician or psychologist so you can get proper treatment and feel better about yourself. If your weight is a point of low self-esteem for you, you may also be reffered to a nutritionist who can help you achieve the weight you want. Please get help now, Depression is a serious mental disorder that needs your attention.

Exercise, even a simple 30 minute walk, has the same effect as most anti-depressant medications. I would highly reccomend doing this. Even if you dont feel like it, make yourself get up and do it. I know how hard that is sometimes, i have depression too, but belive me it helps so much. It can also help with those self esteem issues. You cant feel fat if you are exercising and doing something about it!

Also, check with your school. If they have a counseling center, call them. Make one appointment. Try it.

Most universities have free clinics for their students, or can at least direct you to one. When you are depressed, you need to get other people involved, or you can't recover. I know, i suffered from depression for 4+ years, and only now am i finally realizing that the way out is through other people.

Good luck!

Maybe a community mental health area can help you, or a counselor thur Catholic social services,.

Honestly, you do NEED to talk to someone, what you are doing is not working!!

Plus the stuff you are ingesting is more likely to cause the problem NOT cure it.

You don't have to like a shrink, BUT you do need help, part of maturing is doing things you don't like, but that will help you!

Please, just be good to yourself, search out some help and do it.
You are so very young, you have a lot of good living to do.

Do it now.

Good luck to you.

find something to be passionate about. if you are a soccer coach, for example, and you really rock at that and put your energy into it...you'll develop more self-esteem and think less about your depression
