Just cause you threw your back out doesnt mean you need to see a chiropractor, or a Massage Therapist for that matter. A general practitioner can prescribe some painkillers and some muscle relaxers. Most massage therapists wont work on you while you have an injury that debilitating. And a chiropractor specializes in orthopedic and spinal realinments not soft tissue injuries, that is for a neuro muscular specialist.

Check with work they may have a physiotherapist who can help a lot. I found the stretching pulley most pain relieving; resting flat on your back is good; massage is good but it does take time for your back to cure again the idea is to keep moving if you can but be gentle and try not to aggravate the pain; hanging from a bar can help but do get professional help as you need to work on the muscles when OK to strengthen your back in the future meanwhile you could take some pain relief also heat on the painful areas can be good possibly a hot bath may make you feel a bit more human

I know the mere thought of this may bring tears to your eyes, but you really should see a chiropractor...he/she can pop that sucker right back into place and you'll be on the road to wellness almost immediately! You should alternate hot and cold packs...leaving them on for about 10-15 minutes at a time...and massage therapy would certainly help alleviate the pain in the muscles and relax them. I have sympathy pain for you...I threw my back out last week at bowling...oh yeah, ya see stars when that happens!

See your medical doctor - you probably need a muscle relaxer and you will need xrays or MRI if your pain is that severe.

I often use chiropractic alone or in combination with my doctor's recommendation.

I have used a chiropractic doctor for many years both when " I threw out my back" and for occasional maintenance support.

My chiropractor works on pain signals from the nerves. Only for certain complaints will he manipulate a spinal misalignment.

Advise that you consult with a chiropractic physician specialized in orthopedics or neurology. You're suffering from swollen joints of the lumbar spine that were wrenched apart (sprained) during the activities of your work. The swelling irritates the nerves next to the swollen joints which also then swell and creates more pain. This results in protective muscle spasm which bends you out of shape, and thus prevents you from walking. See a DC to realign your spine and rehab your joints to proper function. Pain killers will not prevent you condition from becoming worse with each recurrence of low back pain which will become more frequent until you become a surgical necessity due to a chronic weak back.

Go see a chiropractor.
Then follow their directions on how to strengthen your back muscles and proper lifting and movement techniques.
If you threw your back out at work it may get covered by Workman's comp. If you notified whoever you needed to notify.

I think that your best bet would be go to a chiropractor, and if you notified your supervisor or whomever you needed to tell about the incident it very well may be covered under workmans comp. Well not maybe, but should be, in truth if it happened at work and was related to work then they have to pay.
