Hehe! I know how you feel, nasty little bugs, aren't they?!!! I'll agree with everyone who says that you shouldn't worry too much. Like one other person who responded, I have been bitten by a tick myself... No problems here. I would call your vet and see if there is a high number of tick related illnesses in your area. If not, then I wouldn't worry to much. Just check the bite spot a few times over the next couple of weeks and make sure it heals properly. Also keep an eye on your dog and make sure she continues to act normally. If she does come down sick, make sure your vet remembers that you called asking about tick bites. Finally, get her on a tick and flee prevention regimen! Good luck!

No, your dog is not going to die just from a tick bite...she will be fine. But I feel I must tell you, the best way to remove a tick is not with tweezers. The best way, is to coat the tick in a heavy oil, baby oil, vasaline, 30 weight, something like that. after you coat the tick in oil, lift the tick away from the dog, and rub it in a circular motion, and the tick will back out of your dog all by its self. where as pulling the tick out with tweezers, most likely will leave it's head behind.

Your dog is not going to die from 1 tick. I will tell you a few things from my own experience:
There is no such thing as one tick. thousands of them inhabit grasses and tree limbs waiting for a host. They drop on, and from there choose their site. They need a blood meal as part of the reproductive cycle.
The female tick will become engorged and fall off the host, READY TO LAY HER thousands of EGGS. In your house , if that is where she dropped.
If you see little black speck bugs crawling up up up your walls, you have a problem. vets and exterminators know how to help.
Look under the engorged tick still on the dog, you will find another tick. The male. be sure to get both of them.
Using tweezers, you may feel a bump at the site for several days. If it swells or looks red, go to the vet for antibiotics.
To get a tick to back out, the only way that worked for me is 100% Acetone. Cheap nail polish remover. put it on a cotton ball and hold it firmly on the tick. be sure tick is saturated and wait. It will back out and you can safely remove it and kill it. they are hard to kill. Check yourself for ticks--with a mirror. and also, get a good tick collar.
good luck. hope this helps.

Your dog will be fine. Use Frontline on her that will help in case there are more ticks near by. (And there are more ticks!)
Now, the one tick on the dog shows you that you have ticks somewhere that the dog goes. Check your yard out for low lying bushes, shrubs, or tree branches. Ticks like areas that are dark and damp. If you have areas like these, trim up the branches so that they are at least 1 foot off the ground. This will allow sun under there and it will dry out. I would also buy a pesticide and spray in these areas.
Good luck!

Keep your eye on the dog and go to the link below to see symptoms.
Better to be safe than sorry! I don't know if the dog will be okay, but, at least you van be informed.

Dogs get Lyme disease from a tick that passes the Borrelia burgdorferi bacteria into the animal’s bloodstream when it bites. The tick must remain attached to the animal’s skin for at least one day before the bacteria can be transmitted.

Jeez Chill out. Dogs get ticks all the time.
The only way the dog will die is if the tick was infected with something nasty. (Unlikely) Take her to the vet if she starts acting sick.
Hell I live in the boonies and I have had ticks on me. I'm still kicking.

go to the vet and get the requisite tests done. the sooner the better. your dog shoud have been on some kind of flea/tick prevention program. im really quite sure shes not going to die; but a vets visit will definitely be in order.
