If you could already see the timer, the original wrapper of the turkey has probably been removed, or they were bought in bulk with no wrapping. Almost all whole turkeys sold in USA with pop-up timers are frozen and wrapped with an opaque plastic wrapper that would include the brand name, expiration date, instructions, etc. Without the label, there's not much to go on as to what brand it is. Butterball is the brand most known to me, but there are dozens if not hundreds of suppliers.
The pop-up timer is a plastic tube that gets inserted into the turkey like a dart, and inside that tube is a spring-loaded plastic cylinder. The cylinder (pop-up part) is held in a depressed position by a food-safe substance that melts once the turkey has reached the correct temperature.

It's not actually a timer, it's a thermometer which is pre-inserted into the thickest part of the turkey breast before you buy it from the shop. When you cook it in the oven, usually takes about 30 minutes per kilo at gas mark 3 (160 degrees centigrade or 325 farenheit) the thermometer will pop up when the turkey is ready.
Bon appetit!
