If you are so secure in your "no sky fairy" belief, why do you even bother to insult others, is it part of the atheist charter to make sure you insult others who do not believe the way you do?

Dear Lover of God,

I can see by your profile that you have joined Y!A only a short while ago. The question you pose is one that is asked many times. The response that you have received is very typical.

Let me tell you a bit about C.S. Lewis.

In his book "Surprised by Joy" a leading atheist and one of the most brilliant minds in England during the past century, C.S. Lewis (The Chronicles of Narnia), talks about something he calls "The Hound of Heaven" that constantly pursued him. The more he tried to shut out the idea of God, the more this "Hound" pursued him, and the more angry he became. Finally he could stand no more. In his own words “I became one of the most reluctant converts in England.” It was then that a most unexpected thing happened. He was flooded with true Joy. This book has been on the best seller list for about fifty years.

I suspect that many of those atheists that you refer to, are being pursued by "The Hound of Heaven" right now.

Since you are the one that posed the question, and God has shown you several that are being pursued by the "Hound of Heaven", will you pray for those people fervantly for at least one day? I hope that your question was not an intellectual exercize only.

God bless you in that effort

Bryan

you know what, if you want to believe in what you believe, that's fine and many people will respect that

however, if a question is asked, don't expect the atheist (who are NOT religious nor a religion) to sit back and agree with you, or not to question the core of your beliefs (the bible)

admittedly, some are insulting and it's sad, although the typical atheist objective is to answer honestly, provide scientific evidence and logical reasoning rather than blind faith...if that's what you find offensive, then you cannot blame the atheist, it's probably more the case that people are offended because others disagree with them

and if some are trully insulting, it's more than likely due to the fact that others, such as Craig above, say, agree or perish in hell! There's no alternative, it's that black and white!

there's no such thing as an atheiist "religion"

"atheist" means a non-believer. as in "a" meaning non, "the" meaning a deity and "ist" being a belief in something.

also, there is no "charter" as in a bible for non-believers

so...your question is stupid. Not you...just your question. go get an education. then come back and look at the number of insults that fly on this forum and tell me that they're all from "a-the-ists"....you'll find that a lot of them come from so-called Christians heaping s*** on other religious beliefs. especially if they're non christian!

thanks for the two points.

Love and Light,

Jarrah

Publicly announcing that we don't believe is not an insult. And if you would keep your sky daddy out of science class I wouldn't feel the need to publicly ridicule it at all. But as a group you are trying at every turn to hold science back just because it disagrees with a 2000 year old myth. And that is dangerous.

*sighs* Atheism is NOT a religion. I am very much insulted by your comment that it is. If you believe in god, then goody for you. If you have to believe in something to be happy, then fine. If you aren't secure with yourself enough to step away from religion and believe in people rather than deities, fine, go ahead.

We. Don't. Care.

We are atheists. We are not your mother. It is not our job to take care of you and teach you the right things.

You have that mixed up. It's the Monotheists who are taught to hate all other religions and insult anyone who doesn't believe as they do. Kinda like you're doing right now.

We're just forthright in telling you we don't believe in any of the religions. That's not insulting you. That's being honest.

you must 'accidentally' only see the atheist slagging christians and completely be missing the christians doing exactly the same here.

Of course, the atheists are not the ones who believe in sins and virtues and turning the other cheek. They are also not the ones afflicted with a persecution complex.

If you are insulted by the truth, that is your problem not mine. I am insulted by religious people that tell me I am not a good citizen if I don't follow some one else's fairy tale.

we dont insult. and stop acting like a hypocrite, because by writing this, your doing the same for your religion. you dont set a very good example of being a 'lover of god' because you guys are taught to love everyone. psh, if i had a penny for the number of ungodly christians i see everyday, i would be one rich woman.

take if from me, stop asking these kinds of questions. you go your way with your religion, and ill go mine.

we do alot less studying of our religion, then spreading it and making a big deal about it and being hypocrites.

maybe its best you shut your mouth.

Because it's fun. Just because you don't believe in god doesn't mean your not shallow.
P.S. Atheism isn't a religion.
