Do get vigorous exercise daily, I've never tried the milk but I have heard of it. If your mind is racing and you are not going to sleep because you can't quit reviewing you day, practice some meditation techniques before you go to bed.
Do not watch TV in bed or read in bed.
That is keep your bed for what it is intended sleeping (well the other if your married ya know).
Develop a "bedtime" routine and while it won't happen immediately you will begin to drop off faster and more easily.
I also suggest chamomile tea, or Valerian capsules, or melatonin.
I take all 3 at night before going to bed. And it has helped immensely.

Lay on bed, close your eyes, forget everything, Do not think about anything, Thank God for giving one more day for you. Thus you can use that hour useful and fall asleep without wasting time. Isn't it?

if in terms of nutrition, eat anything that is naturally/originally white. this includes white rice, some noodles, and bread(doesn't matter the colour of the bread, as it is originally white). this works. BUT, for white rice (the very starchy type), in the longterm is not good. it slows down your brain processing capabilities.

Hope this helps, Peace.
