If you've been to the doctor give him/her whatever medicine they prescribe...

If you haven't take him/her to the doctor, get the meds then try these tips my mother gave me (our daughter had frequent ear infections her 1st year)

#1 Pediatric Pain relievers such as tylenol

#2 Heat.... whether it's a warm washcloth or just a heating pad applied to the ear area

#3 REST... your child needs as much sleep as possible

#4 monitor your child to see if their fever gets higher etc

but with all children under 2 he or she needs to be seen by a doctor

With a child over 2 you can monitor their activity and fever level for a few days since their ear infections usually work themselves out, but as I stated before... DR first, then meds (probably antibiotics), then home treatment

Really the medicine and ear drops from the doctor is about it. I hate it when our kids are sick! Makes you feel so helpless. We have been lucky as far as ear infections go. We have 3 kids and our 4 year old is the only one that ever had an ear infection(when she was 2). I grew up with a brother that had them all the time. My mom used to put a heating pad under his pillow case and turn it on low. She would also use the blow dryer and a low speed with warm heat. Just keep them inclined so there is not so much pressure on his ear.

Good luck. Hope he/she feels better soon!

There is a homeopathic ear drop that my son (who is now eight) said helped almost as much as the prescription numbing drops. I believe they are called Similsan. In the children's medicine section at the grocery store and/or pharmacy. Try to have him/her go to sleep in a slightly inclined position. I put pillows under one end of my son's crib to elevate it so that he wasn't lying flat. Laying flat puts a lot of pressure on their poor little ears.

Motrin helps, and if he/she won't pull it out, cotton helps shield the ear from the breeze.

Hope your baby feels better soon. Ear infections are the pits.

Motrin. Most young children cry when they are laying down. This tends to take the pain away. It is not a cure. Make sure you go to the Dr. and have his ears checked out. He will need an antibiotic.

Going to the doctor would be your first but if your looking for a home remedy use olive oil or juice from a bulb of garlic.
