I just met this guy named Mike through an open house for highschool. Then I saw him again that same day at a 4-H meeting.(Small world) He is about my age, 14. Everytime I tried to start a conversation with him, he would look away. I would ask him a question, like "oh what do you think of the highschool" and he would be like, "it's ok" and he'd look away. I would smile at him and he would just stare at me and look away. Then I asked him, "are you going to the school next year?" and he was like "yes" then he walked away and started talking to a mother from the 4-H group. This all happend within 45 minutes.
Is he being rude, or is it just me? I'm not trying to flirt with him, I'm just a happy bubbly person who loves to talk. (thats what my mom says anyway) I just wanted to say hi and stuff cause we might be going to the same school next year and it's quite small.
What do you guys think?

Go on the assumption that he is shy. Boys are not as mature as girls so he could be quite awkward. He didn't act like he was being rude from what you say. He retreated to the security of a Mother. He probably just genuinely didn't know what to do and how to react. Keep on being yourself, the world needs more people who are happy and bubbly.

He is just shy...it is the age where they feel more comfortable with their peers and friends they have known for a while and it is a scary thing to go out of that comfort zone......he is hoping that you will still encourage him to talk to you, because he is probably attracted, but not confident...help him out to get to know you, but be kind, and go slow and sure with him....If he doesn't respond, he is not rude, just possibly not interested in anything more than a friend or school mate.

I think he does sound shy, there were guys like this at my high school...they were just shy especially because he didn't know you. Once they get to know you it's a total different story

He's a Junior Higher. They don't know how to act like normal people. He likes you, but is too shy to do anything about it. Let him grow up and then try again.

To me he just sounds shy, I don't think he's trying to be rude to you on purpose. 14 year old boys do get shy around girls. Keep on trying to get to know him, he'll probably come out of his shell one day.

I think is a rude is also a shy!!!! if i was u i will ask him "u don't like to talk to me or u don't like to talk"!!!! just ask him he will tell you the answer you want to know!!!! ^_^ sorry =_= for never given you the exactly answer !!!!!!!!!

its either he likes you and is being shy about it or he doesn't care too much to have a conversation with you. your consistant approaches makes me think you like him, otherwise you wouldn't be worried about talking to him or having this question answered. just leave him alone and see if he comes up and talk to you.
