Cut it one seventh of the way from one end, and three seventh from the other end. Then you have three pieces whose lengths are 1/7, 3/7, and 4/7. Then
On day 1, give him the 1/7
On day 2, give him 3/7 and take back 1/7
On day 3, give him 1/7
On day 4, give him 4/7 and take back the 3/7
On day 5, give him 1/7
On day 6, give him 3/7 and take back 1/7
On day 7, give him the remining 1/7

golfer is right.ricky is wrong.if you cut off 3/7 after you cut off 1/7 I don't care which end you cut it from,you still have 3/7.
