The first step is not to act on impulse. Poor impulse control lands people in prison all the time. So, when you feel like doing something, stop and ask yourself, Is it worth it? Am I going about this in the best way? What would someone I admire do in a case like this? Will this break any laws? and so on.
Learn to meditate. There are dozens of techniques. I listen to my breath while just letting my mind float along. But mediation has to become part of your daily practice (at least 20 minutes per day). Yoga is also very good, as are the martial arts.

Controlling the mind has been the aim of the Rishis of our past. The aim should be to control our 6 -ve emotions. Start with anger. As many have answered ;breathing, meditation etc helps.
Curb strong desires by judgement. To get into every aspect is tough here. Here r just a few tips- Develop introspection as to why you are losing control of your mind. We are all human & react to our environment. This reaction has to moderated and more of individual thinking & analysing done.

In control of what ? we are only human but some control can be achieved by following I suppose defined steps like breathing deeply, thinking before taking action or saying things you may later regret.(counting to ten is good for temper control) Perhaps it may be a good idea to asses situations and to be aware of problems that may happen and to have a plan of action which is carefully thought of and not to react and take action without considering all the results.....

Friend when you feel agony and found out of control to your self so open your palm of your both hand and put your thumb on the line of Number 10 of your first finger and start count to adverse counting 10 to 01. I promise you will feel better from your earlier position. Secondly a smooth option when you feel angrier and out of control then start to laugh you might be forgot to your early position.
