How's it compare in size to the 1911 Colt?

Compared to almost any of the 1911 clones on the market, the Tokarev is a good boat anchor! Above and beyond the fact that, in the right hands, it will kill(but so will any Saturday Night Special) these junkers are almost as dangerous to the shooter as to the intended target, and that's in the original 7,62x25 chambering. The 9mm conversions are even worse, being twice as prone to operating malfunctions. Don't let the cheap price tag bend your head, remember, you ALWAYS get what you pay for! CAVEAT EMPTOR!
If this is inquery in possible purchase, DON"T! Save your hard earned coin for a QUALITY weapon; if you're a novice, invest in a Glock or other comparable weapon & leave these junkers to the COMMIES!

I have had one now for 2 months and have shot about 1500-ish rounds thru this little commie pistol and have had maybe 5 stove pipe ect rounds . It did need about 2 or 3 hours of dremel polishing the slides and some other places that are obvious in almost any pistol but now it shoots and shoots and shoots and shoots .......... Oh and by the way , I have 2 of the 9mm conversion clips that have the insert inside the clip NOT on the outside of the clip/mag. Some have the insert inside the mag well and I see this as a cheap bull***t way to go about this . If you cant find the clips with the inside strip welded so it can handle the 9mm instead of the 7.62x25 round . My pistol shoots just fine with the original clips .It does though not like the hollow point round (the original larger clip for the 7.62 x 25 round clip . They change the barrel so you may not shoot the original 7.62 ammo but the 9mm is a nice cheap always available round and the original commie 7.62 rounds are not as available and are much more expensive . This pistol to me on a scale of 1 to 10 is a solid 7 or 8 all day long . If you get one get it well took care of and spend some time doing the fit and finish work so you dont have to deal with failure . I own about 30 pistols and maybe 15 or 20-ish rifles and I have been grabbing this Tokarev every time we go ;-) LOL

The Tokarev is a good "commie pistol" when consdiering marxist idealogy. Lenin once said, "Quantity is a quality all it's own". The gun is very modular and works well in adverse conditions (Look at who used it and the weather conditions it was used in-the gun works!). The round it fires has definite limitations in flesh targets but it is a freat penetrator of hard targets and zips through many layers of heavy clothing of your imperialist enemies. The 1911 is larger (and more effective in all aspects but hard target penetration-which is not that big of a deal).
I would get a Tok for fun or as a curio. Too bad the Russians and the Germans did not put a spitzer on that shell for a slug! Imagine a 7.63 Mauser or 7.62 Tokarev with a pointed bullet. Now that would have been awesome, but oh well. Wasn't meant to be.

The Tokarev pistol is rather a light weight in terms of power and quality. They typically function well enough if you have good magazines and good ammo. But I feel they are rather underpowered for a defensive pistol, even with the better ammo you can get for them.

The 1911 format pistil is my all time favorite. There is simply no comparison to the single action trigger to any other pistol I have ever shot. A single stack 1911 feels better in my hand than any other pistol as well. Yet that is a subjective thing.

As single stack does rather limit you in terms of ammo and I've found that the Para-Ordanance pistols with thier double stack magazines feel almost, (but not quite) as good. I have found them to be very accurate, comfortable to shoot and very dependable.

If given the choice between almost any 1911 format pistol and the Tokarev pistol I'll take the 1911 every single time.

So, a country that issues its army both the Tok pistol and the SMG that uses the same identical ammo is going to issue ammo to its troops that will be subpar in one gun and blow the other up....and they make the ammo identical so no one can tell the diff? Come on. I refuse to believe you lot are that stupid. That lot of crap about the "super hot SMG ammo that blows up Tok pistols" has been disproven so many times it's pathetic that some folks still bring it up. The pistols? Buy one of both. They're low priced. Be warned though, .30 Tok ammo is going up rapidly. It's not dirt cheap any more. Buy a Lee Enfield or a Mosin Nagant rifle and get the sportsmansguide chamber adapter and you can pop off .30 Tok in those, too. Makes for cheap small to medium game hunting.
