air popped popcorn or the smart 100 calorie bags are fine to eat on a diet.
popcorn only gets terribly bad for you when it is drenched in oil, butter, and hydrogenated fat!
airpopped would be the best choice.

Yes & No...
Some popcorn is very fattening. Can have as much as 800 calories per popped bag. But now there are some nice alternatives.
Smart Balance makes a nice tasteing microwave popcorn that's equal to Theater Style and has only 250 calories per bag. It also has no trans-fats.
So, the real answer is you need to shop around for what meets your diet requirements.

That depends on the fat the corn is popped in, and how much butter you put on it. Movie theater pop corn is out. most microwave popcorn is questionable, you need to look at the bag to figure that out. Most popcorn that you make yourself is OK, in fact if you use low fat spray butter it is a diet freebie (eat as much as you want).

There are some popcorn out there that is really good for you. You shouldn't have to worry about popcorn (that is if you buy the boxed popcorn in the stores), but if you are picky on which kind of popcorn you want to eat, make sure the popcorn has the word 'lite' on the box since that popcorn is healthier than any other kind of popcorn, also, if it has carb free on the box, that is also good for you since it has 0 carbs in the popcorn and you can eat the whole bag of popcorn all by yourself if you want.

My mom lost a lot of weight a couple years ago, when she changed from drinking regular pepsi to diet pepsi. And the other main staple of her diet was popcorn. She did eat the healthy popcorn, and this worked great. You can eat a ton of it, consuming very little calories - it also helps you feel full faster. Great way to go for a little while.

it's the best thing to eat while you're on a diet (use a little bit of butter though)

The butter on popcorn makes you fat. Popcorn is good fiber.

depends on the diet, i live a low carb life so they're not an option for me, if you must get the natural unflavored ones.

The oil and the sugar in them would suggest that you should avoid this food when you are on a diet.
