It's a kind of test from the God itself I think.
there is a Hindi saying:
- Bhagwan ke ghar der hai, andher nahin
this means that God may be late to fulfil his promise, but he will fulfil it eventually.
Just be patient

Perhaps because you have a difficult concept of God to fulfill. Think about what your God is like, what do you believe God to be, why?
Because my concept of God is not the traditional Christian one, I am not left waiting, which I do think would be difficult. For me, my God has already fulfilled all of the promises made.
Good luck to you in your spiritual journey. May you find peace.

God's promises, or not, WAITING is one of the hardest things to do.
It's because we are ready to go, but not everything (or everyone) is as ready as us.
Especially when what we look forward to is so good and positive.
However, the Bible encourages a waiting attitude.
Lamentations 3:26
"Good it is that one should wait, even silently, for the salvation of our Lord."

Jesus Himself said that you are in the world but not of the world, so a follower of Christ is continually in opposition to the spirit of this world and therefore in continual spiritual battle,we are under attack from the anti-forces of good and have to endure some persecution too, these elements make us weak at times and we must go to the well that is Christ to be refreshed often.
It is not those who inflict the most who will win in the end, but those who united with Christ endure the most.

We -humans - are impatient. The relation between ourselves and God is much like a parent-child relationship when we do act like children. I want this, I want it now! I have asked for it and have not got it, then go nag!!
We need to grow up and act as adults worthy of Allah's love. This is how I see it.
Peace

God's fulfillment is you. It is within you. You are his fulfillment.
If you want to recognise His fulfillment, you must fulfill yourself. You cannot recognise God if you cannot recognise yourself.

God so loved the world that He gave His only son. God works in mysterious ways we don't know it's happening.
