is there any proof that it is because of stress?

My mum's hair started to turn gray at 18 and now she'd be completely gray if she wouldn't be dying it. And my father's hair is still not gray at age 56. My mum is a very stressed woman and my father is quite cool and relaxed. Either their genetics play a high role, or stress really has something to do with hair turning gray. The second one makes more sense to me.
Don't take things too hard, do some sports, try to relax..

Its hereditary. They don't have heirloom to share with you, and so they gave you this. You should be glad. Cause I got mine a few years earlier then you. Try applying fresh aloe vera (only the white sticky portion) on your scalp and message it at the same time. You do not need to wash off but some people are sensitive to it. So before using it try a small portion to see if you feel itchy and if rash appear be cautious. It sort of slow down the process of grey sticking out though I cannot explain it. Or try eating lots of black beans, black sesame etc. It is said to help.

I, and my siblings, started at 13. I was nearly white headed by your age. It didn't seem to bother anyone, except me, and a big advantage was at about 15, I was never asked for an id;)
Try eating more "alive" foods, or raw vegetables. That will help maintain your grey and in a lot of instances turn your hair back to the original color.
