That depends upon the wall. If it is a load bearing wall you would have to use engineered lumber, and an architect to keep your house from falling down. If it is just a matter of knocking a few 2x4's out of the way then building a new wall you could do the job yourselft for under $750 including the bathtub

I am all for it...i expanded the living space in my small home by knocking down walls....i did the demo and a pro did the finish work to cut cost...make sure it is not a load bearing wall...and even if it is...i still demoed all the plaster down to the studs, still cut cost...I got estimat after estimate, from 9000 dollars to 2600 i used my neighbor for 1000.00 no regrets looks great...just had to bite the bullet on the time it took him to do it becuase he had a full time job and just worked a couple of hours a night...long 17 weeks but soooooooooo worth it...
