I am dating a girl from the UK - I'd love to move there. How difficult a process is that? Do I need a work Visa? is that hard to obtain? Will it be difficult to find work? Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Hi- I hope Im not about to piss people off by saying this... but I SPEAK THE TRUTH FROM EXPERIENCE!!!! I moved to glasgow from the Midwest and God its been the worst mistake of my life. The weather here is horrible... the rain never stops... its always dark and gloomy and windy and wet. Its great when you are just a tourist looking at all the cool old junk they have around here... It's FANTASTIC... but after a few months of that- it comes to a screetching halt! and reality sets in.

People are quite rude here, and a lot of them direct their rudeness at Americans! (there is a cloud of hatred for us- believe me!) Up here is Scotland- they fight a lot between the Protestants and Catholics- even the soccer teams are anti semetic! Racism is open and encouraged and bigotry and sexism in the work place is second nature.

Food is bland once you've tried a few things- you will see what I mean unless you love a deep fried diet.

I met my husband while traveling Europe and the biggest mistake is choosing to live HERE and not going to the states... the quality of life is just better in the US. Employment rates are better and education is at a much higher standard. People are just nicer... weather isn't crap and there is a lot more going on there... They make fun of everything about us... Jealosy? I dont know.

The british are obsessed with reruns of 'Friends' and that 'British Humor' Phenomenon.... they really just think they are something special cause only THEY get their own jokes... ( well, we get them.. we just dont think they are funny)

Ok... enough already...... convince your girl to go to the states- FOR THE BOTH OF YOU!!!
If you are convinced you want to live in ... this place.... get a fiance visa so at least you can get a job.... go to www.ukvisas.gov.uk and you will find everything you need... be prepared to pay $500+ for a stupid sticker in your passport... and IF you do get married... be prepared to pay it AGAIN...
Good luck! :)

The first step is to learn to speak with that snobbish accent.
