I'd pay £5 an hour. But I've never had a babysitter yet, as we can't afford to pay and go out!!

In Australia i pay anywhere between $15-$20per hour (Sydney) & $10-$15per hour in the country. That seems to be the going rate & i've had a few babysitters.

Round here it is usually £5 an hour plus a DVD to watch for the night plus refreshments and transport home if they live some distance away.

i would ask for a minimum of $9 an hour but that can vary considering how old the child is(if there younger and sleep the whole time lower it)(if theres two and always moving raise it) my last job i got $6 an hour for 2 children from hell and lets just say i only babysat twice.
