Okay, I have a Yugoslovian SKS rifle, the problem is, when I fired it the first time it fired like normal, the second time I fired it my gun would not dispence the shells, I had to pull the bolt back to release the spent shell and load the other one in the chamber, and I am wondering if I need to replace a gas operation componet, or is there something that I am doing wrong because I am new to owning the SKS rifle, and I would greatly appreciate some assistance!

Strip the rifle and clean out ALL of the cosmoline. While you're at it make sure to pay extra attention to cleaning the bolt and firing pin (although this may not related to your problem, it helps prevent slamfires due to the free-floating design of the firing pin).

Actually ther first thing you need to do is make sure it's set to semi auto fire and not shifted over to use the gernade launcher. Just behind the front sight there is a button that must be all the way to the right for the gun to work in semi auto mode. otherwise it's on single shot for useing a gernade launcher. If the button is all the way to right then yes you should disassemble the rifle and make sure you've cleaned out all of the cosmoline. These guns are full of it when when you buy them and if you didn't clean it it's probably still full of it now. If it's cosmoline free then take it back where you bought it and see what they think.

First thing you need to do if you have not already is strip the gun down and clean out the storage/ shipping grease, after doing that if it still has problems ejecting empties try a different brand of ammo. if it still persists either take it to a gunsmith to check the springs and gas port, or buy a spring pack from wolf springs and replace them, This is good to do anyway, the difference is unbelievable in how the bolt feels and operates, the factory springs are old and in some cases worn or low quality.

Ok I had this same problem. All you need to do (at least it worked on mine) is at the front of the gas tube (the muzzel end) there is a small round looking thing that you can press and move left and right. I believe for the action to work right it has to be moved so it covers the grenade launcher sights. Basically move it to the opposite position it is in and it should work fine. By the way mine is a Yugo 59/66 I dont know if this is the same on other models.

Beside the rear sight, push up the lever and lift and pull back the upper handguard/piston/tube Assembly. Inside the part on the barrel is a small hole. Run a couple of pipe cleaners through the hole to clean it out. If a cleaning kit came with yours (check in the covered hole in the rubber shoulder bumper), there is a tool for 'reaming out' that hole, too. And get as much cosmolene (thick grease) cleaned out of and off the whole rifle.
I have one and it's beautifully built, reliable, and accurate enough for small game to close deer shots. And they're lots of fun to plink with.
