I have a 10 month old Boxer, and all the sudden he is urinating non stop. I have to let him out at least once an hour, or he will uncontrolably start running around the house and peeing! He is 100% housetrained, so this normally isn't a problem. About a week ago, he got an ibuprofen bottle off the bathroom counter and chewed it up and ingested some, but he got through that ok. The vet said he should be ok. Now, this starts, do you think it could be related to the ibuprofen incident?

Take him to the vet and have some bloodwork done, especially kidney values. The ibuprofen could of affected his kidneys.

I'm really suprised that your vet didn't show more concern about the Ibuprofen. It has a severe affect on the kidneys in dogs!!! I wouldn't doubt that your dog is either having some sort of failure or my guess would be that your boxer now has a UTI (urinary tract infection) thus causing the constant need to urinate. In both instances it can be fatal if not treated. Get to a vet ASAP.

Hi sexy gurl!!
Ibuprofen - very bad......For dogs, ibuprofen can easily exceed toxic levels.

The initial toxic effect is bleeding stomach ulcers. In addition to ulcers, increasing doses of ibuprofen eventually leads to kidney failure and, if left untreated, can be fatal.
Please look article: http://www.askedweb.com/askedweb/Ibuprofen_Toxicity_In_Dogs/
Stomach ulcers can occur within 12 hours of ingestion but sometimes can take up to four days. With massive overdose or ingestion, severe kidney impairment can occur within 12 hours of ingestion but may take up to five days. In severe cases, seizures may occur.

but you write about dog is urinating non stop.... and this most likely be caused by physical problems such as a urinary tract infection or a parasite infection.

Check with your veterinarian to rule out any possibility of disease or illness.

No idea about the pills he might have injested, but he will either get over this, or you will have to research and compare your method of house-breaking him...maybe he is incredibly high-strung...and also if he is not neutered, he may be at that stage.....when he gets over-excited and obviously can't control himself...maybe leave the water bowl outside..

just when you think you've got them house trained...they seem to go backwards.
we have a 15 month old puggle...we got him when he was 2 months old, and he took to house training very easily...then out of blue it was like we had let him "run wild"...he was doing his business whenever and where ever. stick with your pattern (taking him out) he will "get back on track"
