This is a tough question in that it should be determined before the disease sets in and complete understanding of the disease as well as what happens to the body when deprived of nutrients.
To ask this questions means that one has to consider Alzheimer's as such a terrible condition that life is not worth living because if one has gotten to the point where a feeding tube is needed to sustain life and it is refused as to allow death, then that person really should make that decision before illness trikes.
The medical professionals may question such a drastic measure as having a feeding tube is no big deal.
There are babies that have conditions as well as older humans and they require a feeding tube to assist with nutritional needs which may be permanent or temporary.
Alzheimer's is a disease that is very-very hard on family. A once strong individual can be seen as a child like person who does not recognize that member that they used to be close to can be very hard! The care can concern and safety is also an issue.
While many family members would consider the option of not having the tube there are going to be many more who will welcome it and consider the disease as a misfortune that happened to someone hey love and they will deal with it as any other misfortune _ _ _ _ happens. Bad things happen to good people!
Thanks,
