Religion is basically teach us how to live this life in accordance with some principles. In every religion, the do's and don't-s are defined and almost each and every aspect of life is covered. The basic emphesis is on the importance of relationship between human beings either you are living in a comunity or in a city or in a country or in this world, you must play your role positively and should not do anything which creates hurdles or difficulties for any human being regardless of his religion, colour or creed.
In my religion,"Islam", you are answerable to Almighty God for each and every action of your life and there is a day of Judgement where you will be punished or rewarded for your deeds. And you are answerable to Almighty for both the things that is your role in the society, how did you play and what u did for the betterment and so on and the second part is "Prayers".

Religion is a education of a group of people's perspective of morality. More or less they all copy from a generalized philosophy or wisdom passed down by previous generations. The only difference from a philosophy is the addition of a 'enforcer' aka God to assist in the adoption of this philosophy. Anyone who has taken any economics knows the real reason for the lack of peace in the world. "We have unlimited wants, but limited resources." Most religions try to counter this by promises of a better after life for being humble. Hence the importance of religion, whether or not your believe in a god.

Lack of Knowledge of self is the cause of human suffering in this world.
Divinity dawns in a person and he tries to remove sufferings of people. He offers certain tools of practices to people, so that they could come out of their sufferings.
Few follow his instructions and with time know the truth, others simply follows him as he attracts every one. Other follower form a community after he leaves body and compile his instructions with their mind. This community further disintegrates as different heads interpreting different preachings in different ways.
Group of these people is called religion and compilation of instructions or its revisions by different groups is called its Holy book.

My understanding of religion is the set of rules that God gave man.Religion was made for man;man was not made for religion.I am a Christian and this is what my religion is in a nutshell:to love God with all your heart and to love your neighbour as yourself.

Religion to me, is what people believe in, whether it be a flower, animal, or a supreme being. Whichever religion we believe in, it is passed down by family throughout the generations.

i think religion is man's way of trying to reach the gods(God). it helps us express our fears of the mystical or things we dont understand and probably to get meanings or solutions to them.
I am a christian and christianity to me is rather God reaching out to man. A relationship with God is important as he helps u go the extra mile when u fail in your own strength or when everyone else appears to desert you.
