I don't know if the church lied about Mary Magdalen. But the fact that the church distorted the truth and emphasized some doctrines according to its survival interests is a known fact, amply documented in history. These aren't speculations, anyone can read the history of Christianity and the early writings. The "shaping" of Christian dogma according to political interests began way before the current denominations existed. If you are interested, read about the first heresies, what they said, what the official dogma was and how it won.

Well to me it depends if you are talking about the Roman Catholic chuch or the Protestant church...etc. Some people believe that Mary M. was married to Jesus. Some people get thier ideas from movies (...the Code). You can not really tell what kind of person she really was inside. She must have been a good person to be close to Jesus. But don't let the deceit of others draw you out of your fate. If the church has lied about anything you should make it known because the bibe says that I've you see your brother do the wrong thing in ignorance and you do not witness to that person his blood (or the result of his actions) should be on your hands. Me...I think the church has lied about quite a few things! But I still believe that Mary was a good friend of Jesus!

Why would anyone be surprised that the church has been corrupted? Jesus, himself, said that wolves would come in in sheep's clothing and pervert and deceive many. As for who Mary Magdalen was I am sure that she was not the wife of Jesus.

The devil is a liar and the father of all liars. With over 2000 prophesies come true from the Bible and many relics found backing it's accounts it can hardly be called crooked but rather enlightening.
