I'm 31 male (if you can't tell by avatar) and stocky built.....I'm thinking of a nice tribal tat, but I dunno. I want to put it on my upper arm near my shoulder.

I'm not saying that I will get the tatoo that someone on here suggests. I just want to get some ideas that I may have not thought of on my own. Plus, some people have really cool tatoos, and maybe they would share what they have.

Ok, most of you guys are taking me too seriously. I realize that I don't want to get a tatoo that sucks. That's not the point. As far as it being symbolic. That is good, yes and no, but what you find symbolic now can change at a later date, no matter what it is. I agree that you have to choose something that you are going to want years down the road. I have a tatoo already, and it is 10 years old. It doesn't bother me, because I only see it when I'm nude. I don't care if I live to be 100 years old, people will only see it if I'm nude. Therefore, I would never get a tatoo where it shows all the time, no matter how much I like it or what it symbolizes! I know that all I have to do it put on a shirt, if I don't like it anyway. PLUS, I don't really notice my tatoo anymore. It has been a part of my body for a decade now. SOMETIMES I look at it, but most of the time I forget it is there.

A tribal tat would be nice, just remember that you'll have it forever, so be choosy! Plus, if you've never gotten one before, they do fade and the lines become slightly blurred, so you don't want something that has too many fine details, otherwise, you will eventually end up with a glob of color. Again, let me say, a well placed, nice tat is very attractive.

No offense, but if you can't decide that for yourself, you're not ready to get one. It's going to be there forever, so to let someone else decide what it should be is a bad idea, especially considering that no one here knows anything about you. You should never decide to get a tattoo and then decide which one..in other words, don't get one just for the sake of getting one.
Take it from someone who deals with this sort of thing a lot.

A tat is on for life. I have no problem with them, in fact my man has a big one. However it needs to mean somthing to you. Your the one who lives with it. Are you going to want to look at in 20 years time and explain it to your grandkids? Fashion changes, time changes as do you.
Have what you want and means somthing to you. don't do it unless you really want it.

I think you should choose something that has a meaning to you. You could go as simple as a 'mom' tattoo to an angel or religious tattoo. Choose something original though, not mainstream.
Make sure whatever you choose is something that you're going to want on your body forever. Think ahead in the next 30 years, you aren't going to want something stupid permenantly marked on your body. :)

If you have to ask the Yahoo think tankers what is best for you, then you are not ready for a tattoo. A tattoo is a personal piece of art, that should reflect your tastes and personal beliefs and enjoyments. After all once you get one you have it for life.

be very picky about your future tatoo....especially when you become an old man, will that tatoo be weird then?etc.....
i'd like to get a tatoo, too...but i haven't decided on a drawing...

get a tatoo of your mummy! get her to sign it and smear it with her favourite lipstick. it is a sweet thought from an old nana like me! it's not from the heart because i don't have one after to many heart attacks! HIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEKUNGH! I don't understand! i don have a heart!! it's artiificial like everything else on me such as breasts,chin,eyes and an artificial fanny!
