Re .exe?

Question

Hi has anyone any self help tips for computer problems? How can i find out what .exe processes should be running on my pc and rid of ones that should not ? I check task manager and start up but dont understand what needs to be there and what does not ? Can anyone help with some advice i have windows xp professional an upgrade from home edition if this helps ? Thanks

you could also install windows defender, in there is a tool which tells you whoch programs and processes are running, and it lets you close each one, also remove them from startup if needbe

Some common exes are always running. But when you install some automated software then some exes or dlls are always running in your system. You can see them in task manager.

Better if you see just a software free machine where only windows is installed. Just see what files are running there and list it out. The sit on your machine and you can easily found out the wrong one.
