Pentecost - Acts 2:3-10; 10:46-47; 19:6
Mark 16:17
1 Corinthians 12: 10 - 14:39
(spiritual gifts)

Usually it means other coherent languages that are spoken of and understood and yet there is a reference in Corinthians that talks about a heavenly language ... "if I can speak in the tongues of men or angels"...

Also, note that Mark 16:17 was probably not an original part of Mark's Gospel, but was added years later. The earlier texts, the Alexandrian one's, do not contain it. The Byzantine and Western one's have it, but they are less reliable.

Acts 2: 1 - 4 "When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them."

You need to understand the true meaning of "Tongues" in the Scriptures. Tongues isn't reffering to Mumble Yumble like they do in the churches. You need to understand the scriptures to know what type of tongues these people talked in Bible times.
Mumble jumble doesn't bring salvation. Salvation is about Love.

Mark 16:17
And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues

1 Corinthians 12:10
To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues

1 Corinthians 14:5
I would that ye all spake with tongues but rather that ye prophesied: for greater is he that prophesieth than he that speaketh with tongues, except he interpret, that the church may receive edifying.

Mark 16:17 And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues

Acts 2:4 And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance

Acts 19:5,6 When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of Jesus. And when Paul had laid hands on them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they spoke with tongues and prophesied

1 Cor 14:2 For he who speak in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understand him; however in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

1 Cor 14:4-6 He who speaks in tongues edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church. I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies is greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification. But now, brethren, if I come to you speaking with tongues, what shall I profit you unless I speak to you either by revelation, by knowledge, by prophesying, or by teaching?

1 Cor 14:14 For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, my understanding is unfruitful. What is the result then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with understanding.

1 Cor 14:18 I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all.

1 Cor 14:22 Therefore tongues are for a sign, not to those who believe but to unbelievers; but prophesying is not for unbelievers but for those who believe.

1 Cor 14:27 If anyone speaks in a tongue, let there two or at most three, each in turn, and let one interpret.

1 Cor 14:39 Therefore, brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak with tongues.
