It is possible, at least in public buildings and even some busy outdoor places like train stations. Several countries have already done it. If it's something that has so clearly been proven to be dangerous like smoking, then many people accept it.

I agree, because smoking is a health danger and those who smoke don't have the right to disclose others to secondary smoke.I help all public health measures to discourage smoking, so i'd also tax cigarettes heavily, improve consequences on smoking violations, positioned intense fee lists or a finished ban on the importation of cigarettes, inspire and help anti smoking campaigns, as well as rewarding non those who smoke, through lowering their coverage charges wish this helps

You and I clearly live in different places.
In Georgia, thanks to our Governor, Sonny Perdue (no, really, that's his name), smoking is banned not only in restaurants and bars, but anyplace you can think of besides your own house.
Now, no matter what your thoughts are on this, know that Gov. Perdue managed this coup WITHOUT putting it to a popular vote.
That indicates that any number of things... spankings for children; drinking beer; refusing to wear a seat belt... might also come up for review.
It CAN happen. That's why a sweeping ban is nothing to applaud.

In my city, you can no longer smoke in public places, like a restaurant, or bar, or night club, or pool hall.
So it's possible.

We exalt "freedom" in every way in America even when it impedes someone else's freedom to breathe clean air.
