it depends upon the texture ,taste and compatibility that you seek= beef and bean pie is usually black beans, navy beans are good with ham or spiced chicken- pork,too! Limas are good with ham, as are butter beans BUT my favorite is kidney beans and ground beef and/or ground sausage - NOT REALLY HEALTH CONSCIOUS BUT AWFULLY GOOD
