There are no rules for reading Bhagwad Geeta or any epics or Purana etc . Only thing is one should have desire to read to understand in real sense instead of just reading and interpretating in ones views . Our Puranas or Ramanya or Shrimad Bhagwagat surely can be read at home. After all we worship god at home also. God is everywhere and one does not need temple to sit and read. I read Srimad Bhagvagtam at home but in a clean place. One can read at temple or at home .. whichever suits but should be done with calm mind and desire to understand.

Go to Sacred-texts.com... you can find it there, though not in Sanskrit.
