Exercising your legs (regardless of what exercise you do) helps flatten your abs. Even movements as effortless as walking engages your core. Stand up straight and put your palms on your lower abdomen. Now, lift each leg like you're going to take a step. Feel that? It may not be as effective as crunches, but it does help.

I have a lateral thigh trainer called "Hot Crossed Buns". I don't use it all the time, but use when I get bored with whatever other exercise I'm doing. I spend about 40 minutes on it each time (never paid attention to how many steps it is). Works just as good as anything else. It's not so much what you do, as it is doing something regularly for a minimum of 40 minutes at a time. Even walking will help you tone and lose weight, if you make it a habit.

Don't worry, it will do all it says it'll do. The main thing with your abs is to "stabilize your core", keep your "abs in", stand tall throughout your workout and all exercises. Believe it it or not a lateral thigh trainer will work many abdominal muscles, focus on what you want and what you can "feel" and keep focused, may take a bit but it definitely works.
Another bonus, move your feet to a different position on the peddles (not when your moving). You can use the entire length of it to achieve different results, shape yourself the way you want to. Keep your strides fluid with constant motion, get your arms involved too you'll burn more calories.
It's not necessarily about the # of steps it's more about the # in minutes that your spending on it? Start out slow if your not used to it or new to exercise. Try 3-5 or 5-10min. if your just starting out. Work up to 20-30 min. 3-4 times a week. Later you may want to increase the exercise to two 20-30min. workouts in the same day, if you want. It's a good machine and works relatively quick in seeing results. I hope this answers it for you and have Fun with it! K.

any old trainers should work fine with the trainer, it has grooves so you can't slide off. As for how many steps, I guess you should gradually build up. Try and do 10 minutes one day, and increase it slowly and you should start to see results. I bought mine 2 years ago and it did take a while to see results. It shapes your abs because of the twisting motion when you step, but I saw the most change in my inner thighs, they don't rub together any more!!

As with any exercise program, 30 minutes of "fat burning zone" effort 3 times a week should be fine, & as for trainers, just feel them when you go to the stores, I have used slippers on the LTT & not fell off it even at high speeds, but most trainers should be fine. Your abs are being worked just by standing up so moving about really works them.

Try using the LTT DVD. It has different variations on the normal stepping motion which concentrate on different areas and is also a bit more interesting. You should see more results with that. As for trainers, I just use an old pair i have at home and that seems to work just fine
