That depends on where you live, when I was running jobs we worked in 2 different areas, in the city it would have been in the neighborhood of $35,000 - $45,000.
in the very upscale resort town it would have been $50,000 - $70,000.
We were one of the most expensive builders that specialized in craftsman & bungalo style homes as well as restorations on homes in the historic district.

where do you live?? that is the most important detail. i'm in so cal: $20-40K --plumbing and 2-story structure are expensive.
think about what of the work you could do yourself. will cut some costs if you feel like getting handy as well. some companies will be willing to plan the job for you in pieces like this. some will only agree if they do the whole thing. just have to ask.
the cost i gave is a guess based on what i've seen around. i don't ahve a house or anything.

Well in UK, I would think around anything between £ 60,000 and £100,000.
I work for an extension company that builds these and it depends on what you want. Prices for a one storey extension for width of what would be is around £30,000. So if you are you are having a two storey extension with garage underneath it would be around the price £80,000-£100,00
Also best advice is get one company that does the lot and asite manager to make sure things are in budget and dont over run and also inform you day to day of work
