This is a great thing that happened.

I was a nanny and I was in charge of the little boy's birthday in late September. He wanted a chocolate cake with Rugrats decorations.

I started the cake the DAY OF his birthday party, about 4 hours before the party started. It was sort of a crunch. Well, I didn't grease the pan enough and part of the cake came out, and part of it stayed in the pan. Completely jagged but broken roughly in half. It was a 9x13 pan.

I was horrified. I couldn't fix it, I didn't have enough time or ingredients to make another cake. But I AM a quick thinker.

The cake that came out, was kind of looking like a landscape. And I thought...well, it IS September. The next holiday is Halloween. So I got in my car...ran to the store...and frantically picked up a pack of Oreos, various candy bars, licorice, hard candies, and some colored gel icings. etc.

I ended up frosting the landscape part with chocolate frosting. Then I crumbled up the oreos and the rest of the cake crumbs (that stuck) together in a bowl and sprinkled it all over the landscape. I sprinkled it all over and had random piles....mounds of dirt...fresh graves.

I got those pink and white Good and Plenty's and arranged the white ones like bones on the piles...skeletons! (I ate the pink ones.)

I made a fence out of kit kats and connected them with licorice.

I made gravestones out of hershey bar halves, the end rounded off and decorated with RED gel icing like blood.

I covered suckers with white paper napkins, twisted the top and taped it to stay, made spooky faces with a sharpie, stuck them in the cake....ghosts!

I inserted gummy worms all over the place...random, some oozing out of the graves.

I can't remember everything but it was a BIG hit. The mom was impressed with my ingenuity and the kid LOVED it.

They were acting like crackheads from the sugar.

We used the rugrat stuff another day. Probably at Halloween. haahhaa!

lol....really. I once tried to make homemade pizza and screwed up and turned it into pizza egg rolls...dont ask how. and just last week I was making a quesadilla and it got burnt on one side, so I scrambled some eggs, scraped out the inside of the quesadilla and added it to the eggs for a delicious mexican omelette...
