The most expensive dog to breed is likely an English bulldog. **They often need to be helped by the vet to mate. **They nearly always require c-sections. Their C-sections cost more than most dogs. **They need a myriad of genetic health testing.
**The initial pair of breeding quality dogs are super expensive.

Mmmm, I would put all bulldogs, both English and French, high on the list--the bitches usually require C-sections as their hips have just become too small to whelp pups due to breeding for type...

Of coarse Bulldogs which require a c-section and AI EVERY time. No such thing as a natural birth with them, those big heads. Thank you but I'll stick to my Labradors.
Edit: What do you know? Everybody answered before I hit send. Grrrrr!!
