It is possible to have both VISTA and XP installed on one computer, but they won't run at the same time -- you would have to reboot to switch between the two, and each operating system would take up its own space on the hard drive. The antivirus program, if not compatible with VISTA, will only run when XP is running. You'll be unprotected while VISTA is running unless you install a VISTA-compatible antivirus on your VISTA installation.

What most people are doing who get VISTA is upgrading from XP, meaning that you can't use XP anymore. If you do this, you will need to make sure your AV(anti-virus program) is compatible with VISTA or has an update that supports VISTA.

Don't spend any money on antivirus programs for personal use - AVG Free is a perfectly good free AV which supports VISTA.

Vista. some people say Vista makes use of up a lot gadget ram. it truly is authentic. Vista makes use of those ram to velocity up the computer. Thats why there is not a lot loose ram. Xp wastes those loose ram doing not something. Vista is even better properly proper than XP than u imagine that is. Vista hasn't any situation to me for a million 3 hundred and sixty 5 days already. Vista is swifter at the same time as starting up application and starting up the computer. some people evaluate XP because they're too used to XP or they're gamer. it type of feels vista is slower in video games via 2-5 fps. No massive deal. VISTa!

Windows XP and Windows Vista do not operate at the same time. If you are planning to keep Windows XP and not upgrade it, then you will have to install another antivirus program after you get Vista running.

If I was you, I will keep my XP work, and wait until microsoft releases the service pack for vista. I have read a lot of articles, both pro and cons, about vista. So you better keep your XP for a while, and before you really wants to install Vista, make sure you have a heavy-armed-high-end PC.

If you upgrade xp to vista, then you do not need to install another AV, but if the AV does not support Vista , then check the manufacturer's website as most of the AVs have Vista upgrades

Vista Transformation Pack will give to your Windows XP system the new and cool look of Microsoft's future operating system: Windows Vista. The pack changes most of the system icons, skins and toolbars and also adds new enhancements to your desktop such as a dock bar or a different system tray clock

Umm you aren't going to be able install both Vista and XP so I don't think it will be an issue. Your hardware probably will be though unless you have a very new computer with 1 gig of memory.
