I'm trying to do research on the wealthy, any specifics where they got away with a lot because of their money... I don't even know where to start. Any ideas? I'd really appriciate it.

Not only wealthy but powerful too.
I would start my research with Senator Edward Kennedy (younger brother of President JFK) and the Chappaquiddick affair.
He was driving a young woman home, had an accident, she drowned and he ran off into the night!

From Wikipedia:
The Chappaquiddick Incident, more commonly referred to as simply “Chappaquiddick”, refers to the circumstances surrounding the 1968 death of Mary Jo Kopechne, a campaign worker for Senator Kennedy.
Ms. Kopechne was killed when the Senator became disoriented and drove his vehicle off a bridge and into a lake after a party at Martha's Vineyard.
Due to the circumstances of the incident and the way in which it was handled, it quickly became a national scandal and it has influenced much of Senator Kennedy’s later career.

Edward's son, Patrick has had a couple of run-ins with the law also:

Another good family to research would be the Hearst family.
From Wikipedia:
Patricia Campbell Hearst (born February 20, 1954), now known as Patricia Hearst Shaw, is an American newspaper heiress and occasional actress.
The granddaughter of publishing magnate William Randolph Hearst, she gained notoriety in 1974.
Following her kidnapping by the Symbionese Liberation Army, she ultimately joined her captors in furthering their cause. Apprehended after having taken part in a bank robbery with other SLA members, Hearst was imprisoned for almost two years before her sentence was commuted by President Jimmy Carter.

google black nobility, rothschilds, rockafeller, royality is a good place to start. Bush is a cousin to the queen. most of the superrich are desendents from royality. except for the superlucky like bill gates.

All of them...How far back do you want to go?

The rich have a different set of rules.

Medici's, Borgia's and Kennedy's would be a place to start
