The CD's should have been burnt as A ISO file, not a regular CD, Check the program you used to burn the cd's there should be a setting to create a ISO Image to the CD, Then you just put the CD in the drive and reboot, ( you want to use the Grub installer or you will have issues with getting back into windows,, ).. Umm XCHAT,, remember that when your installing things, You want to get that going, its a chat program like IRC, theres lots of linux help in it.. It took me about three weeks of goofing with linux before I stumbled across it, thats when I started to learn...

(just a word of advice, Linux is ok, Its just like windows, only different)... There was no big thrill, I found that the games that I wanted to play I couldent, My videos would not play on linux, Sites like pogo games would not work nor would sites like cnn.com...

Basicly I found that its just a waste of time, Unless you got some files to crack... Sure there were a lot of accessories like skyview and free paint programs,, But whopty doo... I went back to windows.. ( its the guys that dont have valid copys of windows that say its the coolest thing to hit the internet)... And there just mad because they cant crack windows, so they get linux and think there cool and talk it up..

But hey have fun,,

I install linux on unused windows partition. I had 10 GB unused windows partition. When installing linux, i use the partition for linux which break to 2 smaller partition: 2GB for Linux Swap, and the rest (8GB) mounted as root ("/"). Then I install linux without any problem. And GRUB detect my XP, so I have dual boot.

before installing ,set aside atleast 5 gb of disk space as unused. u can do this by selecting the disk management option in windows XP(my computer>right click>manage>right click>disk management) . then reboot making ur cd rom as 1st boot device and ur linux disk 1. rest u can manage urself. but make sure u create a boot up disk for safety.
