Actually they held bible study every wednesday at lunchtime in my highschool. They did it in the library, which made me kind of mad cause then I had to move to another room of the library to read, but whatever. I think as long as you don't force other children to do it, and you don't interfere with the actual school day, then go ahead and pray. As long as you do it away from other people and don't bother them.

People try to look for simple ways of solving complicated problems but sometimes just create more problems.
Some people think that school prayer will make children better or nicer or more Godly.
Most people think school prayer will infringe on the student's freedom of religion. What kind of prayer is prayed when you have Christians, Jews, Muslims, Buddhists, Wiccans, Agnostics, and Atheists in the same classroom?
It is unreasonable to compromise everyone's values to come up with some bland prayer that will be acceptable to everyone.
The Catholic Church agrees with the U.S. Constitution as currently interpreted by the U.S. Supreme Court and does not support "structured" prayer in public schools.
In the Vatican II document, Declaration on Religious Freedom, Dignitatis Humanae (Human Dignity), the Church states:
The human person has a right to religious freedom. This freedom means that all men are to be immune from coercion on the part of individuals or of social groups and of any human power, in such wise that no one is to be forced to act in a manner contrary to his own beliefs, whether privately or publicly, whether alone or in association with others, within due limits.
Children will continue to privately pray before tests just like they always have.
With love in Christ.

Actually i believe it is time to take out children out of the schools. You might think that is nuts but think about it a second. As the only people God will really bless greatly are those who live by his laws and his instructions if all christians would educate there children else were then God would bless them Greatly thus the rest of civilized world would fall flat on it face. Then they woudl come to know hell and the need for God. Christians today are trying to live in the world and unto the world and not as God said. This has made the promoting of Christ more difficult and is defeating the Christians actual purpose in being in existance.
So should we teach God in school, Sure but would it be better to allow the sinners to fall into the pit of sin and thus they have no were to turn but God. As christian are to be holy and not be pertakers of any lie and are told to instruct there childern in the things of God. You can't just send you children to a perverted school and say that is ok. As you are teaching your children to believe in nothing at all. To believe in fairy tails. I will assure you that christians are far more educated then most people today.

The fact that there are literally hundreds of different religions practiced by all people in schools means you can't have just have one religion practiced anywhere, it is a violation of the rights of people and offensive to everyone who is not of that particular faith.
Say you were catholic (if you are, that is fine), and everyone said it was acceptible to allow only Pagan practices in schools, would you really want your children to learn all of that, since it is not your faith?
Also, there are religious academies, so parents who want their children to have religion taught them in school can always send them to a Catholic school devoted to that, or any other, but for public schools, it sholuld not be allowed for just one set faith.
Alternately, there are a lot of public schools who have religious classes before and or after school that parents can enroll their child in, so having religion as a daily focus for all classes is not necessary.
I personally would remove my children from the school if they came home one day saying they heard "And let us praise the lord for each day that we live!" over the P.A. system every morning. I want my children to grow up and learn about different religions in order to choose for themselves which is best, not have one particular faith pushed on them.

There shouldn't be any school led prayer in public schools. The government should always remain neutral.

You want schools to teach your children your religion? How lazy and non-caring are you? It is, and never was, the public schools job to teach religion. And it shouldn't be. Christians want god and bible taught in schools but what they really want is to have THEIR god and bible taught. What they fail to understand is that if schools are open to religion then the door is open for ALL religions, not just the one the one they want.

Err religion should NOT be taught in schools unless it's a religious school like catholic school. It's a parents job to teach their children about religion if they have one. I'd be furious if my children came home from school spouting this nonsense!

when you are just offering prayers to one God, it's just causing bad feelings to others that believe differently.

Sure, as long as the prayer mentions *all* gods.

Why do you feel the need to force your religion on others?
As long as you do, you're an enemy of religious freedom.
