She mainly uses it for sleep only, but she's very attached to it, I hid all pacifiers for a couple of days and she could not nap at all, and found it hard to sleep at night, I also tried the hole trick, made her cry a lot, what can I do?

you know that stuff that you paint on the nails to stop nail biting (very bitter) paint that on. It is invisible and will taste bad. It is then her choice to get rid of it. Tell her when she says it tastes bad that that happens when you get to old for it. I didn't even have to tell my daughter that. She said it tasted yuk and please wash it. Wet the handle end and gave it back. She said it was still yuk and I said Oh well it's up to you if you want it then it's there. She didn't put it in her mouth again.

Go to the zoo.... when you get home tell her the elephants took her pacifier.

No joke... this worked for us. Much to my suprise.
We went to the zoo, saw all the animals, didn't think a thing of it. When we got home her dad was asking her what she saw, etc When it came time for her to sleep she went looking for her pacifier... at which point my husband told her the elephants took it... she believed it. The first night was rough but she's been without it ever since.

Good luck.

"Sorry honey I can't find it." She will get over it. My son had to sleep with 5 of them. That way if he spit 1 out in the middle of the night he could find one to shove back in. One day I gave him only 1 at night and the next morning it was stuck under his banket...(I could see the tip of it) so I got him out and while he went toddling to the living room I stuffed it in my pocket, cut the nipples off them all and pitched them. I cut them so I would not give in. He was a little sad that night but slept great and never asked for one again!

you could go to a build a bear place or type place and make like a ceremony about moving on and put the pacifier in the bear then sew it up, she would still have it but not in her mouth. i read that in a parenting mag, and i thought it was a nifty idea.

I had the same problem with my daughter.. I would take out as soon as she went to sleep, eventually I had her go cold turkey, it was a miserable few days, but that was the only way.

tell her you are giving them to the pacifier fairy for all the little babies that don't have any and really really need them...get a pretty gift bag and have her put them in it....then take it outside and tie it to a tree branch.....tell her in the morning the fairy will have left her a present tied to the tree for the pacifiers

make sure you get a little gift to switch with it after she's gone to sleep

hope this helps :o)

A friend of mine mailed her sons pacifier to "Santa" and told him that Santa was going to give it to a little boy who neded it more. They made a big deal of bringing it to the post office, and they just sent it to his grandmother. Her son was so proud of himself for doing the big boy thing and helping another child.

take it from her when she goes to sleep and throw them away when she wakes up in the morning if she asks for it pretend to help her look for it then go about your normal routine she'll forget it once she starts to play. Just don't give up and give it back that will only make it worse.

May be get her something else like Teddy Bear or some blanket or something. And after those she'll have a boy friend to cling to.
